Time is a measure of change
What is TIME?
Can anyone give an example in which "time" does not mean some sort of change?
NO! Because time is the system we use to measure change. Time is to change like the metric system is to space.
Both change and time exist. But while change is physical, time is a an invented method to measure such physical change.
Some conflate change —a physical process that happens in space and to space— with so called "time" which is a invented method we use to measure the pace of such change.
Time is not the same thing as change. Time is to change what the metric system is to space.
Time is a method we humans have invented —and agreed to use— to rhythmically measure the pace of space´s change with discrete units in a way that is useful to us.
"According to the most accurate caesium atomic clock in the world, 1 second is equivalent to 9,192,631,770 cycles of the radiation produced by the transition between two levels of the caesium 133 atom." https://www.sciencealert.com/physicists-have-broken-the...
Existence changes, and we measure that rate or pace of change using a method we call "time".
Change is one of the 3 fundamental features of existence. The other 2 being space and logos.
Space changes according to some internal order (so called laws of physics, biology etc.); this internal order that permeates existence is the *logos* and it is the source of reason. This is why we, rational animals, are able to understand such logos and predict changes; this is science.
In a similar way as non-existence can not exist, and therefore space must necessarily be infinite, non-change can not exist either, everything must necessarily be impermanent and constantly changing.
Existence must necessarily be infinite in extension (infinite space), constantly changing (eternal change), and contain an internal order which is expressed in the specific way it changes.
Therefore, so called “arrow of time” is just a misnomer, in reality, what happens is that the way things change follows an order, this order or internal law is known as logos. Logos is the way changes unfold. It is not that “time only goes forward”, that is meaningless. Time does not go anywhere; time only is a measuring system we have created to measure the rate of change, and not a thing that moves, neither backward, nor forward, neither sideways... times is to change, what the metric system is to space, something we use to get an idea of the relative change of something in regard to us
3 infinites: infinite space, change and reason.
"Zhuangzi’s Butterfly Dream
Zhuangzi dreamed of being a butterfly
or the butterfly dreamed of being Zhuangz.
All beings easily change one into another
everything is changing and change never ever ends.
The seawater at the distant Penglai
keeps returning clear to the shallowest stream.
The melon-grower outside the east gate
was once a wealthy Lord land owner.
Even rank and riches vanish
why so much fuss when everything is impermanent?"
